You will notice a circular feature which is the Howick Hillfort. The little enclosure, dating from the late Bronze and early Iron Ages, is signposted from the path and very easy to get to It is worth making a little detour to explore.

There is space for a number of cars to park off the road just before the farm buildings you can see to the north of the Mesolithic hut site. This is a working farm so please take care not to obstruct any farm vehicles or machinery.
